C4B launches mentoring scheme for business

C4B (Canterbury4Business) is launching a mentoring scheme to support the business community in the Canterbury district.

Through the Support4Business scheme, owners of businesses will be put in touch with owners of other businesses in the area who are happy to share their expertise and experience. Enquiries will be fielded centrally by the City Council's Local Economy team, who will match new businesses with the most appropriate business mentor.

Paul Barrett, chairman of C4B, said: "Although Support4Business will appeal mainly to start up businesses who want to talk to someone who knows the ropes and the area, owners of more established businesses will also appreciate the opportunity to discuss a particular plan or problem or sound out a new idea on an ad hoc basis with someone who is totally unconnected with their normal business circle.

"Between them, C4B's 170 associates have an enormous wealth of knowledge and experience to offer, so it makes sense to set up an system that enables this pool of local expertise to be shared by everyone in the district.

"Becoming a Support4Business mentor is a great way put something back into the business community and help new companies and organisations get off to a good start."

C4B is currently compiling a database of business owners who are prepared to become a Support4Business mentor. Business people who would like to get involved, new businesses that would like to be put in touch with a mentor should contact Danny Cooper on 01795 890 804 or Dawn Hudd on 01227 862054 or email dawn.hudd@canterbury.gov.uk
