BUSINESS EVENTS DRAW BIG ATTENDANCE

Last month’s free business events organised by the city council were very successful, with more than 240 people attending.

The three conferences – business skills, opportunities surrounding the 2012 Olympics and winning public sector business – took place at venues around the district.

The aim was to provide local business people with the opportunity to learn more about themselves and their businesses and to explore new development opportunities.

Feedback following the conferences has been extremely positive, with delegates wanting to know when the next event will be and partners expressing an interest to be involved again. The City Council is now looking at how the success of this year’s programme can be built upon for next year.

Executive member for economic development, Cllr John Gilbey, said: “We’re very pleased with the attendance at these events and the support we received from the business community. There is a clear demand for something similar next year and it’s important we put together a programme that once again meets the needs of local businesses.

“The success of these events, added to the 90 people who attended the annual dinner of Canterbury 4 Business earlier on in March, shows how strong the local economy is at the moment.”
