New on-line business skills and training resource for Canterbury district employers

Over 50 local businesses attended the launch of C4B's new on-line business skills and training register, held at Hall Place, Harbledown.

Compiled by the C4B Education and Skills project group with the help of two European Business Management students from Canterbury Christchurch University, the register lists the business training and further education resources offered by schools, colleges, universities and private sector providers in the Canterbury district. Employers can search for the kind of skills training they require either by training type/subject or provider name.

Speaking at the launch, Professor Jan Druker from Canterbury Christchurch University, who chairs the C4B Education and Skills Committee, said: "One of Canterbury district's great strengths is the extensive range of skills and training resources it can offer the business community. Business people need to know what provision is available and how to access it. The on-line register provides a valuable link between providers and businesses and will be an especially useful resource for smaller companies who may not be aware of the many cost-effective options that are open to them in this area."

Pablos Santos and Aitor Garcia-Moreno, the students who worked on the compilation of the register, presented the new on-line resource at the launch. Aitor Garcia-Moreno said: "Researching the project involved gathering data, visiting schools, colleges and private training providers. We'd like to say thank you to C4B for giving us the opportunity to work on this community project and we are proud to have been part of it."

Businesses can access the C4B Business Skills and Training register via www.canterbury4business.co.uk.
