A new Rotary Breakfast Club

A new Rotary breakfast club for the businessmen and women of Canterbury and surrounding areas kicked off on Tuesday with an official launch at the Abbots Barton Hotel

There has been a Rotary Club in Canterbury since 1922 and it was the existing club, which traditionally meets at lunchtime, who decided to set up and sponsor this new club.

Past President of the Rotary Club of Canterbury, Philip Abbott said:

"Rotary not only provides great opportunities for networking and socialising but also gives members the chance to make a difference; not only in their local community but internationally as well. We decided to set up the new breakfast club because we know that in today's busy world business men and women don't always have the time to attend a lunchtime meeting. The breakfast club gives them the opportunity to enjoy all of the benefits Rotary can provide without affecting their daily work routine. Meeting before work will open Rotary up to new diverse range of people who may never have considered joining Rotary because it meant a commitment during the day or in the evening" "

Anyone interested in joining the club can go along to the Abbots Barton Hotel every Tuesday morning from 7.30 - 8.30am. The club already has 14 prospective members and would welcome anyone interested in finding out more.

Prospective Member, Karen Gambrell who is the Kent Community Fundraising Manager for the Save Canterbury Cathedral Appeal said:

"Through my job I have visited a number of Rotary Clubs in Kent and have always been impressed with the fantastic charity work they do locally and across the world. I think people sometimes has a misconception about Rotary; they think it's old fashioned or would take up too much of their time but I can honestly say all of the clubs I have visited have been great fun and I would encourage people to come along and find out for themselves what Rotary can do for them and their business"

If you would like to come along this week, or would like to join us during the up and coming weeks please contact Dennis Rose on 01227 272124 or email dennis.rose@btinternet.com
