Jason Dodd: A New Perspective sponsored by Barclays - May exhibition 4th May-31st May
Modern art collides head on with traditional materials at the forthcoming exhibition at Hall Place (Christ Church) this May with former automotive man-turned professional photographer Jason Dodd's fourth exhibition of photography. The Canterbury based professional photographer has made quite a name for himself over the past twelve months with three successful exhibitions in Eynsford, Deal and London.
The show in Canterbury, entitled ' Jason Dodd: A New Perspective' is being sponsored by Barclays and celebrates Jason's '2nd Birthday as a professional photographer. ' A New Persective', will feature Jason's stunning close up work which focuses on his two loves - Kent nature and 'motors'. Jason worked for many years in the automotive industry and his love of all things with four wheels is evident in his professional work today.
Jason's unusual use of traditional materials, melded with modern digital technology, marks him out from other photographers. Jason uses the traditional artistic medium of canvas to display his ultra modern, contemporary digital images to stunning effect. Dover based sign company - White Horse Signs - have spent a year developing a technique which enabled Jason to replicate the true colours of his images, taken on digital equipment, on the traditional canvas material.
Jason turned professional two years ago and in that time has amassed an impressive portfolio including multi national clients Esso, Land Rover, and McDonalds. He has also worked locally for the KM Group, Barretts of Canterbury, Canterbury City Council and is currently flying high in the skies shooting Shepway from the air, by helicopter, for a big business regeneration project for Shepway Council.
The exhibition is Jason's chance to show off his more arty creations. Jason says; 'I'm really excited about working with Christ Church - it's a brilliant venue as they've just created a modern interior to the building. The exhibition will consist of a wide variety of images with twenty large canvas's on display. The big problem is always which ones to leave out!"
Jason also has a further two exhibitions later this year, one will be in Sandwich and the other will take place at Barretts of Canterbury's showrooms where the exhibition will concentrate solely on his first love - cars.
