Canterbury Economic District Partnership
Friday 15th October, 8-11am, at Reeves & Neylan

  2. Notes of last meeting and matters arising
    Minutes agreed.

  3. Inward Investment 4 Canterbury
    Presentation by Phil Davies about the proposal Inward Investment 4 Canterbury which is led by The University of Kent with support from KCC and other partners to attract inward investment into Canterbury.

  4. Canterbury Business Week
    Penny Sharp updated the board with proposals for the Business Week

    Monday14th March /Wednesday 16th March – Launch the Victoria Walk. In Herne Bay.

    Monday 14th March/Wednesday 16th March– Artful Business

    Tuesday15th March – Whitstable Business Exhibition

    Thursday17th March and Friday 18th March – Canterbury Business Exhibition.

    The board agreed the C4b dinner will be held on the Thursday 17th March at the County Hotel.

    Michael to invite Jim Braitwaite to be a speaker for the C4B dinner.

  5. Matters Arising from Sub-Groups
    Update from Learning & Skills

    Jan Thornby thanked the board for the successful launch of the Placements that Work, Jan has had a good response back from KCC.

    Jan visited Orchard school they are going to be applying for special Status in Arts they would like to have an Art theatre which the community can use as well. They will be the first school to apply for this status they need to raise £20,000 Jan asked the board if they had any suggestions how C4B could help.

    Whitstable Community College we need to produce the Vocational booklet Jan to meet with the sub group to discuss further.

    Serving the Local Economy

    Clive has been regularly attending meeting in preparation for the Canterbury Business Exhibution2005.

    Fiona has been collating quotes for the website the sub group to discuss further.
    ,br> Clive to arrange a meeting with Nicholas Churchill from Canterbury City Council.

    Clive to put an article in the KCC magazine Around Kent for The Placements That Work and an article on Business Against Crime.

    Quality Of Life
    Please find attached an update from Kevin.

    Infrastructure
    Michael has been attending Steering Group meetings chaired by George Chandler for the A2 slip road a scheme and cost format should be available before Christmas.

    Michael attended an EIP meeting on Employment land in our District an update from this meeting will be available around Christmas.

  6. Any other Business
    KCC have now decided to take back in house the Highway Partnership.

    Fiona had a meeting in Whitstable the people at the meeting ask Fiona if it would be possible to arrange a meeting with the council regarding the proposed Park & Ride.

    C4B have sponsored a trophy for Young Enterprise.

    Peter Drummond Kindly donated an activity holiday for up to 16 people.
