Canterbury Economic District Partnership
Friday 3rd September, 8 – 11am, at University of Kent

- Apologies:

- Consider the position of C4B Chairman
The board decided to amend the terms of reference for electing, to 30% of members must be present and 2 members must be from the private sector. The Chairman will be elected every 3 years.
- Canterbury City Council's Budget 2005-06
Presentation from Colin Carmichael and Ian Cooke (Head Of Finance) spoke to the board regarding the Council's budget projection for 2005/06.The board had a discussion and were asked what they think the council could do to seek savings or increase income.
- Beacon Council Bid – Supporting New Business
Penny gave copies of the bid and explained to the board the aims and expectations for submitting a bid, the bid is to be submitted by the 08th September and the council will then hear back in November. The board are fully supporting the bid, if there are any comments from the board they need to advise Penny by Monday 06th September.
- Economy Conference
The conference is going to be postboned and have it later on in the year nearer the LSP.
- Canterbury District Business Week
To be discussed at next meeting.
- Matters Arising from Sub-Groups
Update from learning and Skills
Jan is awaiting the Placements that Work booklet from Laura (marketing) for the launch on the 20th September. Phil Davies has also produced some notes for the speakers
Leaflets for the Vocational College in Whitstable to be ready for the launch.
Update from Quality of Life
Kevin met with Marie and Sue form Community Chest they went though the process and application, Kevin is going to speak to the sub group to discuss further.
Penny and Kevin met with Carole Davis from the LSP Environment Group.
Kevin Ron and Eileen attended the Community Forum in Whitstable.
Artful Business launch 03rd September over 90 people will be attending the event at Iffin Farmhouse.
- Chairman's Update
C4B are now members of The East Kent Partnership, meeting at University of Kent on the 10th September.
Philippe Esclasse from City Centre Management came to C4B for help regarding street scene, a meeting was held in July very positive outcomes from the meeting.
Business Survey going out with next Business Life, Penny going to bring the results back to the board at the next meeting.
- Canterbury 4 Business Against Crime
Welcome to Ken Bradshaw from Herne Bay Police Station who gave a presentation on Neighbourhood Watch Association that prevents businesses from crime by providing details of the crime affecting businesses, both locally and throughout Kent. Once registered The Neighbourhood Watch Centre provide daily information on crime reports across the district via email, to share information about crime and suspicious events. Helping make businesses more profitable and more resilient to crime.
