A number of new initiatives for the district are underway this spring. C4B has plans to make Canterbury a Centre of Excellence for business start-ups and improve graduate retention. The aim will be to develop a 'one-stop' shop for entrepreneurs so they can tap into all the support, resources and facilities available in the district. C4B will be working with higher and further education bodies to scope out the project and identify existing resources before applying for funding. Watch this space!
March sees the start of the City Council's new pilot traffic management scheme for the Westgate Towers and St Dunstan's area. The scheme, which aims to protect and preserve the historic towers and improve traffic flow and air quality, starts on the 27th of March. Construction work begins on the 12th of March.
By the end of March, the old sports centre on Herne Bay pier will be demolished. The City Council's Events Team is working to support The Pier Trust and organisations in Herne Bay that are interested in organising events on the remaining pier deck.
