Minutes from the last meeting and matters arising.
Matters arising:
- Dawn Hudd advised that the board would require a representative from the rural business community following Peter Drummond's recent departure from the board. She asked C4B to suggest a new representative.
- Paul confirmed that a letter from C4B asking the council to preserve and safeguard the Huyck site in Whitstable for employment use had been sent to Colin Carmichael. George Wilson suggested that a developer had acquired the site with a housing use in mind. Nick Churchill confirmed that the council in past discussions with developers had defended the need for employment at the site in order to replace the jobs and industrial floorspace lost as a result of Huyck's partial relocation. He also said that it was in the process of formulating development principles to guide developers on what uses would be required on the site.
- In addition to SEEDA, Jobcentre Plus and the council's existing work at the site, Tony Bartlett announced that Business Link Kent is also offering their support to help those staff to be affected by the closure of Hoppers Bakery in Herne Bay.
