  • Met with Cllr Alex King, Kent County Council’s Portfolio Holder for Regeneration, and other representatives from KCC – on-going
  • Got commitment from KCC to contribute up to £33,000 towards technical studies for the A2 slip roads
  • Campaigned for local companies to help fund the A2 slip studies and pledges received
  • Hosted C4B annual dinner
  • Jointly hosted the Canterbury Business Exhibition 2004 and 2005 and supported 2006 Business Events
  • Hosted briefing lunches for district councillors
  • Hosted an education business breakfast for secondary school head teachers
  • Linked a C4B board member with every secondary school in the district
  • Responded to consultation on the Channel Tunnel Rail Link domestic services
  • Commented on the district’s revised local plan and lobbied for inclusion of Little Barton Farm
  • Represented the district’s business community on the Local Strategic Partnership
  • Represented the district’s business community on the East Kent Partnership
  • Pledged support for the Canterbury Enterprise Hub and Innovation Centre
  • Produced a work experience guide for employers - 'Placements That Work' - which has now been revised and adopted across Kent
  • Helped to create Art for Business and supported their first two events
  • Created a Canterbury District Community Money Box
  • The Chair of SEEDA, Jim Braithwaite was guest speaker at our Dinner 2005
  • The board met with Pam Alexander (Chief Exec SEEDA) and Mark Bilsborough (Kent Executive GOSE) to inform them of our activities and ask for their support
  • Participated in schools video project
  • Raised the profile of Canterbury as a district and a place to do business
  • Held an event to alert local businesses to the opportunities arising from the successful London 2012 Olympic bid
  • Formed working project groups for A2 slips/Little Barton Farm lobbying; Employment & Enterprise; Education & skills; Marketing & Promotions; Olympics and Events
  • Over 400 organisations registered as supporters of C4B
  • Successfully lobbied for the Montgomery Schools application to become an Academy
