Spirits were high at the recent C4B dinner where I was delighted to report that associate membership of C4B has almost doubled during the last twelve months to reach 235, and over 90 people are now involved with the various project group committees.

C4B's first Environment Conference, held on Earth Day (22 April) at Canterbury College was attended by over 85 local businesses. The event included presentations by representatives from Business in the Community, Business Link and Canterbury City Council, as well as 'green' case studies from Canterbury Christ Church University, Crown Products Ltd, Downland Cycles and Reeves & Neylan. Online Skills and Training Resource

This comprehensive online register lists all the many training and further education resources in the Canterbury district. Employers can search for training they require either by training type/subject or provider name.

Support4Business

Support4Business was launched to provide business people, especially those just starting up, with easy access to a network of experienced local business owners. Business people who require help are carefully matched with a Support4Business mentor. Click here to view the list of mentors and their profiles.

Flying Start Rally

This one day mini conference, organised to make students more aware of the many opportunities and resources available to help them set up businesses or social enterprises in the district, attracted almost 100 students and graduates who met local business owners and attended workshops.

Future Skills Breakfast Meeting

Organised by C4B and Kent Works for Canterbury district employers, the meeting helped business owners get to grips with major national changes in the school curriculum and how these will impact on their businesses.

A2 Slips

C4B's on-going campaign to improve traffic congestion in Canterbury received a huge boost at the end of 2007 when the new slip road linking the A28 at Wincheap to the A2 London-bound was approved.
